Wet underfloor heating kit costs: what to compare

A useful underfloor heating price comparison includes the same heated area, pipe spacing, installation method and controls. A low headline price may cover a hydraulic package while leaving out boards, thermostats, floor preparation or delivery.

Tube and coil lengths

Compare the actual material and metres supplied. At 200 mm centres, a 50 m² heated area needs approximately 250 metres of field tube before tails and turns. At 150 mm centres, the same calculation is approximately 333 metres. Whole-coil supply and a cut-to-length service can have different costs and handling requirements.

Boards and the finished floor

A 600 × 1200 mm board covers 0.72 m² before cuts. Seventy boards provide 50.4 m² of gross board area, but that does not guarantee enough usable coverage for a 50 m² layout. Allow for the actual room geometry, returns, waste and supplier pack sizes. Check the precise board thickness and routing, plus any adhesive, primer, levelling or load-distribution layers required by the floor system.

Manifolds, connections and controls

Check the manifold port count and included valves, gauges, air vents and brackets. Each used circuit needs both a flow and a return connection. Ridgeline packages require the correct connection assemblies for the tube and manifold; ordinary plastic-pipe connectors should not be assumed suitable.

Compare thermostats, actuators and the wiring centre as a separate list. The number of room zones and circuits determines what is required. Smart controls can also require additional equipment, so compare the complete control system.

Delivery and VAT

Tube, metal components and boards can require different handling and may arrive in separate deliveries. Request the price for your actual postcode, including any pallet, island or access restrictions. Confirm the total including VAT and delivery before comparing offers.

Compare supply cost with installed cost

A supply package does not by itself include installation labour, electrical work, screed, the heat source or final floor covering. Keep those costs separate so an apparently cheaper kit does not become an incomplete installation budget.
